Behind every well-managed fixture is a fleet performing at its best. Would you like to play a central role in increasing the value of NORDEN's tanker portfolio?

Join NORDEN's Asset Management and play a key role at the intersection of commercial shipping, asset management and fleet operations.

As our new Operations Manager in Asset Management, you will work closely with commercial, technical and operational colleagues to optimise the performance of our owned and chartered assets within our tanker segment and help create value across the portfolio.

Why this role?
At the end of the day, shipping is a people-driven business where operational excellence creates commercial opportunities. In this role, you will turn operational know-how, fleet insight and trusted relationships with stakeholders into value for both NORDEN and our customers.

Working closely with colleagues across the Commercial teams, Tankers, Technical, HSEQ, Control, Legal and Risk Management you will manage a varied tanker portfolio that includes daily operations, contract performance, vessel upgrades, security issues and strategic asset initiatives.

You will also engage directly with vessel owners, brokers, customers, trading houses and strategic partners around the world, helping ensure that NORDEN remains a trusted and preferred partner across the tanker market.

What you will be doing
You will have the opportunity to:

  • Manage NORDEN's owned and chartered tanker assets, ensuring efficient operations and effective commercial performance throughout their lifecycle.
  • Manage fleet optimisation initiatives, including vessel performance monitoring, commercial flexibility improvements, drydock planning and upgrade projects.
  • Act as the operational owner of selected tanker assets, managing charter party obligations, vettings, claims, deliveries/redeliveries and operational escalations.
  • Support commercial activities by providing operational experience in relation to chartering, S&P projects, contract development and pool participation.
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships with vessel owners, customers, brokers, trading firms and strategic partners, including key stakeholders in the Japanese maritime market.
  • Coordinate security matters together with our internal Company Security Officer (CSO), including high-risk trading areas such as the Gulf of Aden, Black Sea and Gulf of Guinea.
  • Coordinating risk management, compliance and incident response activities while supporting broader business initiatives across the tanker organisation.

As you will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across functions, geographies and cultures, the role is well suited to someone who enjoys a collaborative, people-focused environment where teamwork and knowledge sharing are part of everyday work.

What you will bring
You combine practical shipping experience with commercial understanding and enjoy working in a role where stakeholder management, fleet performance and business opportunities go hand in hand.

This role calls for an experienced shipping professional with:

  • Experience from tanker operations, commercial operations, shipowner environments, asset management or a similar maritime setting.
  • A good understanding of time charter operations, commercial shipping contracts, vessel performance and operational risk management.
  • The ability to navigate complex operational and commercial challenges with a forward-thinking and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Experience working with vessel owners, brokers, charterers, technical managers, customers and other external stakeholders.
  • Fluent English skills, both written and spoken.

Experience with product tankers, SIRE, RightShip, TMSA, Japanese counterparties, drydock projects, decarbonisation initiatives or previous sailing experience will be considered an advantage.
