As our future colleague and Shipping Accountant, you will make a profound impact when operational data is translated into financial data. This includes making sure that our accounting system is carefully maintained and contains accurate data, which is especially fundamental for further use by different stakeholders.

You will take part in a great global team and work in especially close collaboration with your 5 team members from the local accounting team in Singapore but also with teams located in our Denmark and Cyprus offices. All working around the shared aim of ensuring NORDEN’s quality service to our customers.

The team
The voyage accounting team is the final receiver of all transactions in the operational system related to the shipping of dry and tanker vessels. The day-to-day revolves around accounting for these transactions and new business and incorrect entries and their impact. The team dynamic is important, and it is vital that you can see yourself in informal sessions of collaboration, sparring, and honest feedback which already are characteristics the team upholds.

The tasks that await you
As the Shipping Accountant in NORDEN, you will be involved in the entire process of voyage accounting and therefore the record of financial transactions related to NORDEN’s shipping activities. To be more specific your work will especially revolve around:

Preparation and posting of journal entries.
Reconciliations of voyage-related accounts.
Review of voyage results for accuracy & adjustments.
Regulatory – audit preparedness.
Performing intercompany reconciliations.
Processing Voyage insurance.
Maintenance of accurate financial data.

Ad hoc tasks regarding non-voyage accounting can be expected at times.

All the above will take place in a collaborative culture, meaning that this position is all about collaboration across the team and organisation all while you have your own responsibilities.

Therefore, we see that you have good coordination, teamwork, and communication skills, implying that you convey thoughts, ideas, feelings, and information effectively to others in various contexts.

Your competencies and core qualifications
Further, to thrive as our future Voyage Accountant, it is important that you can see yourself in the following statements:

You hold a degree in Accounting or Finance.
You have a good foundation in Excel.
You have a basic understanding of ERP system(s), we use Microsoft Business Central.
You hold experience with intercompany or profit center setups.
An affinity towards continuous learning.
